There are rules and regulations pertaining to the different programs and each program has specifications on who has access to it. However, it is worth looking into these grants.

IDHA Single Family Rehabilitation Program

IDHA (Illinois Housing Development Authority) designed this program for very low-income families. The IDHA’s Single-family rehabilitation program helps these low-income families to repair their homes and even remove health and safety hazards.

You can qualify for the loan if you meet the following requirements; the property is pre-owned and households are at 80% of the area median income or under. The program offers a forgivable loan of up to 45,000 dollars to cover cabinetry, stairs, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.

A roof-only option is also available in this program. This roof-only option offers a forgivable loan of up to 16,500 dollars to repair roofs and any other related structure.

USDA Rural Development Single Family Housing Repair Loans and Grants

This program is available to those who; can not afford credit, live in a permitted rural area, and they are an income that does not exceed the country’s very low limit, which in the state of Illinois is between 37,950 dollars and 50,000 dollars.
